ClimateCHECK is pleased to announce that Tom Johnson has joined the company as Director of Climate Change Services. Tom will open a ClimateCHECK office in Toronto in Fall 2007.
Tom is a specialist in GHG validation, with six years of experience in environmental and greenhouse gas reporting and verification. Tom has project experience in renewable energy, district energy and energy efficiency; landfill gas and energy from waste; transportation; and biological treatment. Tom has lead or contributed to the development of several reporting methodologies and protocols, including as a member of the Canadian technical committee responsible for the development of the ISO 14064/14065 suite of GHG standards. He also served for four years on a federal inter-program working group on the development of GHG tools and protocols.
Tom is experienced working with and leading interdisciplinary teams of stakeholders and participants from numerous sectors, including consultants, municipal staff, federal and provincial program officials, and both private and not-for-profit sector technical experts. In his previous role as Development Manager for a $550 million green projects fund, Tom created a reporting system consistent with the ISO 14064-2 standard and managed its application to over 125 municipal infrastructure projects in over 100 different municipalities. These projects had a total value of almost $2 billion dollars.

Tom was educated at McGill University in Geography and Environmental Science, and has received formal training in GHG validation and verification and in project management.
